FORGET YOUR PAST
Life is a journey and only those with a sense of passion for focus will reach their destination gloriously.
Matt. 5:13-14 -Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Rev. 5:10 - And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
God did not create you to roam the earth but to reign on earth. You are from God’s royal family with a royal identity.
1Peter 2:9 -But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
You are created to be a marvel to your world. You are no longer in darkness because God has brought you out to enjoy His marvelous light. Lack of knowledge of your inheritance in Christ Jesus can make you a cheap victim of the devil’s trick.
Satan is subtle; one of his subtle ways is to make you remember the things that happened to you in the past so as to put you in bondage but I see you free this hour in the name of Jesus!
Many cannot fulfil their glorious future because of the memory of their past failures and mistakes.
Isaiah 43:18-19 -Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
God is advising you not to remember the mistakes and failures of your past. He is set to do a new thing in your life for all men to see. You must not remember the old things.
Those who embrace the failures of yesterday can never see the brightness of tomorrow. Every successful man or woman you see today has failed before or had one terrible past but did not allow that situation to keep him/her on the floor. There is no man who had never made mistake in life; not one. Every great man had made one mistake or the other.
Myles Munroe said: Some people are too busy trying to get over their past that they don’t have time to live their future.
God does not use your past to determine your future. Let go of the past and pursue the bright future ahead of you.
Phil. 3:13-14 -Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
When it comes to forgetting your past, it is not God that will do it for you; it is your own responsibility to forget your past. Let go of the past; there is something bigger in the future.
Let the dreams of your future be so big that it will consume you and make your past failures and mistakes look too small. Put the picture of a big dream for your future in front of you that you will not see your past mistakes anymore. The reason you are still seeing your past failures is because there is no dream of your future placed before you. When your dream before you is too big, you will not remember what happened in the past. Nature abhors vacuum; you keep remembering the past because there is nothing before you to see. May every past negative memory be wiped off by the blood of Jesus!!
You don’t go forward looking backward; a driver that keep looking backward will definitely crash. The more you look back, the less you get ahead. A man who falls in a race can still win a prize if he rises up promptly to continue. That you fell down is not an issue; get up, dust yourself and move on. Let your tomorrow so occupy you that the memory of yesterday’s failure will look too small.
