BE UNFAINTING

The problem with many of us is that that we want to become experts overnight. But there is no such thing as an overnight expert. That's like saying you want instant patience. There is nothing like that. The word 'expert' presupposes having extensive knowledge or proficient ability in a particular field or area. And since none of these two comes overnight, one cannot be an expert overnight. There are 3 ingredients needed to become an expert at anything: practice, passion and persistence. You may have heard of Demosthenes. He is acclaimed to be the "perfect orator" in history, hence the comparison phrase as 'eloquent as Demosthenes'. But he didn't become an expert overnight. In fact, he had a speech defect and was ridiculed many times. But that did not deter or discourage him. To overcome that, he used to put pebbles in his mouth and recited verses while running. This, he did routinely and religiously until he became an expert. The principle here is that we must press on until we get to our goal. Be unfainting!
