BE WILLING

I think it was Plato, who once said that , "No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.” And he is absolutely right. Truth we can say represents light. Light uncovers dirt (corruption ) and crookedness (evil). Lies we can also say represent darkness. Light exposes darkness. Darkness hates light. Meaning that those who walk in the truth will be hated by those who are living lies. To take it a notch higher, they don't hate the truth per se, they hate how the truth makes them feel. The truth makes them feel uncomfortable. The truth strips people of their hypocrisy. If you profess to be a speaker of truth, and everyone like you, then you need to assess whether or not it's really the truth you've been speaking. Anyway, the question is: why will a speaker of truth be chased out of nine villages and not one? Yes, the expression is figurative but it carries some insight. It tells us that most places or people in society don't have interest in the truth. They would rather be tickled with lies than be pinched with the truth. If you want to be truthful, you must give up your ambition to be popular. Be willing!
