Many of us are so busy we see sleep either as a weakness or as a waste of time. But did you know that sleep is as good as work? Yes it is. Sleep is a biological need i.e it's not a want for our body. It helps the cells in the body to rejuvenate, repair and rebuild. Let me add this caveat though. If you're now thinking of sleeping for the most part of your day, you've gotten it all wrong. This write-up is not an excuse or encouragement for laziness. There is a time for everything. Actually, my thought is summarized in the childhood poem, "work while you work and play while you play. That is the way to be happy each day." If I should add my own stanza I would say 'work while you could and rest when you should. That is is way to be healthy and happy". Don't try to find time to sleep; make time to sleep. Lack of sleep can cause unhealthy weight gain, depression and even premature death. You cant cheat nature. Nature has a way of letting us pay for any arrears of sleep we owe her. She can be merciless. When we don't pay her her due, she can take or disrupt something valuable we have, be it an organ or emotion. Be rested!
