BE SOBER

*Meaning*

Tanguy Pepiot learnt this lesson the hard way. It was a 3000m race on a Saturday. Pepiot thought he was too far away from the other competitors and too close to the finish line to lose in that race. So he started rejoicing, waving his hands to his home crowd at Oregon's Hayward field. When the crowd began to make noise, he thought they were celebrating him but little did he know that they were actually alarming him to Meron Simon, who was fast approaching. Long story short , Meron beat Pepiot to win the race by one tenth of a second. Such is life. It is not over until it is over. In the race of life you don't rejoice prematurely, you don't underestimate anybody, and you don't pass final judgement on people. The fact that you're leading doesn't mean others are losing. The fact that you're winning doesn't mean others can't beat you. Or the fact that you're leading doesn't mean you'll win. Be sober!
